We have never danced a step! Can you still create a dance for us?
Yes of course! A lot of our couples don’t have any dance experience.
What should we wear?
You should wear something comfortable that you can move in easily to your first session, after that your teacher will probably recommend that you wear something similar to what you’ll wear on the day; e.g heels and a long skirt for the ladies and evening shoes and a jacket for the gentlemen.
What should we bring along to our first session?
Bring a copy of your music on your phone/tablet/laptop/CD.
We’re looking for something traditional with a few twirls, can you help?
Yes, no problem. We can put together a simple Waltz/American Smooth and add some fancy bits once you’ve attended the first session.
We’d like to try some lifts, is this a possibility?
Several of our couples have attempted lifts, so as long as your both fit and healthy that shouldn’t be a problem
We’d like to add some fun parts to our dance, is that something you can do?
Yes – just give us an idea of what you have in mind – if you’ve seen something on youtube please send us the link.
How long should our dance be?
We generally recommend 2-3 minutes. That can feel like a long time when you’re learning a routine, so we’ll find a point where you’re comfortable. We can edit your music to suit.
Should we practice between sessions?
Yes definitely. You’ll progress much faster and feel much more confident.
Is it possible to record our routine so we can practice?
Yes, that’s no problem. Bring a camera or phone and we’ll record you.
Can you cut music for us if we don’t want to dance to a whole song?
Yes, we can edit your music at no extra charge.
What happens in a session?
You’ll have a quick chat with the teacher, who will have prepared an outline of a routine for you. You’ll learn the basic steps first, then the outline of the routine. Once you can remember the sequence, the teacher will start polishing the dance, adding more technique as you progress.
What happens if we can’t attend our session?
Payment for block bookings is made in advance for each 6 week block. Sessions can be rescheduled (depending on teacher availability) if you give us more than 24 hours notice. If you give us less than 24 hours notice we can’t guarantee to be able to reschedule and you will still be charged for the missed session.
Hi Fiona!, thank you for the message! We just wanted to let you know that we really enjoyed it and both thought Jo was really nice and motivating! Her feedback and encouragement were really positive and we would recommend the tasters/lessons to anybody!
It was a great fun and we felt welcomed by yourself and Jo.
Thank you very much!!! 🙂 Marzena and Mike
Thank you all for being so patient and understanding! We’ve had a great time over the 6 weeks, totally set for the big day now! Cheers, Karen and Philip
